Vienna MFF Project Meeting

In October 2016, KKĠ met its MFF project partners in Vienna during which meeting project partners discussed the goals of the MFF campaign after being inspired by detailed information about unfair commercial practices which push people into poverty.

Meeting with Secondary Schools’ Social Studies Coordinators

8th November 2016 – Meeting with Secondary Schools’ Social Studies Coordinators.

 

WWW: KKG met with all the social studies college coordinators at secondary schools at our office, where we gave them educational resources and some MFF! printed postcards. This was a preliminary meeting organized by their head with KKG as to initiate further educational activities with them on Fair Trade and tropical fruit in their schools. Subject Coordinators are the teachers responsible for the subject in colleges (a few state schools each).

Day of Action on Supermarkets

As part of the common action day called upon by the Make Fruit Fair! campaign, Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust staff and volunteers held a banner in front of Malta's top supermarkets:  LIDL stores, Scotts (Conad group), Pavi (Simply Market by Auchan Group), Park Towers Supermarket (national GS group), Smart Supermarket (Tesco products). During the action a banner with the words "Make Fruit Fair" was displayed and a photo with the purpose-made banner in front of each of the supermarkets, as well as distributed fliers explaining the MFF! Project.

Sitio Nuevo plantation is sacking and harressing workers

Action Alert

Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust has been informed about the abuses that are taking palce at Sitio Nuevo plantation in Ecuador. In particular, pesticides are being sprayed on fruits in the presence of workers who cannot adequetly protect themselves from such harmful chemicals (video below).
