Make Fruit Fair! Kick off Meeting

During the kick-off meeting for the 'Make Fruit Fair' project held in March in Berlin, Marthese Formosa and John Axiak from Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust met three labour unionists from Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss labour rights situations and environmental issues in tropical fruit farming.

The Make Fruit Fair project is funded by the EuropeAid and involves 18 partner organisations, 15 from Europe and 3 from the Americas. The project is led by Oxfam Germany and involves NGOs that have been working on Fair Trade fruit for over a decade such as Banana Link from the UK and BanaFair from Germany. It also includes newcomers to the scene of Fair Trade Tropical Fruit.

The Key messages of the Make Fruit Fair Campaign will be:

1) Decent Work

2) Respect for human rights and the environment

3) Protect the environment

4) Fair supply chains
