Police raid Bangladesh 'slave' camp

Authorities in Bangladesh have rescued 30 people, including children, found chained up at a factory on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka.

Police conducted the raid following a tip-off that people were being tortured and held as slaves.

Disney: Stop playing with toy workers' rights!

After coming under increased public pressure due to the violation of Chinese legal minimum standards in the previous years, Disney has again been the focus of an investigation report by China Labour Watch (CLW). Although there have been some minor improvements after the publication of the previous reports, the latest results are devastating. Disney is still ignoring the violations of Chinese minimum legal standards as well as the company’s own Code of Conduct.

Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust is inviting the public to participate in our forthcoming training programme on Fair Trade and related poverty issues that the majority of world’s population faces on a daily basis. Our workshops are aimed at our members and volunteers though the public is encouraged to participate in the educational activities and participate in the ensuing discussions.

Trainings shall be divided over the following two days:

On Friday 12th November we will deliver workshops aimed at explaining some of the basic labour rights offered by the Fair Trade Mark. The workshops will focus on the Cocoa Industry as a model example of labour rights for disadvantaged producers.
